Kate Dean-McKinney

Kate embodies the values of stewardship and looking out for others first.  She a leader on and off the field. Kate was captain of the varsity soccer team and varsity basketball team and ran cross-country at Tandem Friends School.  Years of summer camp, where she happily dug in the dirt and scavenged for animals under rocks, let Kate to decide to become a scientist.

Now she’s a counselor at that same camp and shares her love of crawfish and blue-tailed skinks with her young campers. Fittingly, she wanted to attend only William and Mary, applied, was accepted, and plans to pursue a degree in marine science and find ways to protect the earth’s oceans– inspired by the great oceanographer, Sylvia Earle.
